The Design Story

It started with a model spotted on Thingiverse. BuilderBot3D’s disc stand concept looked exactly like something disc golfers would love — clean, simple, and great looking. The original designer was contacted about licensing it commercially, but never replied.

The model was printed to test it properly before going any further. One thing stood out immediately — different disc types sat at different angles on the stand. A putter leaned one way, a driver another. A row of mixed discs looked uneven and unintentional. That was a problem worth solving.

The original design is licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0, meaning it cannot be used commercially or modified for sale. With no reply from the designer, the only honest path forward was to build something new from scratch.

That meant learning Blender — a completely new tool alongside the CAD software used for everything else at Arcticsnap. The result is a fully independent design with its own dimensions and one clear improvement over the original: every disc sits at the same slight rearward lean, regardless of type.

Designed for Every Disc

Putters, midranges, and drivers all have different profiles and weights. Most stands let them sit at different angles as a result — put a row of mixed discs together and it looks accidental.
